Director of Information Technology

Who You Are?
The Director of IT (Information Technology) or IT Director oversees all IT functions in our company. You will be in charge of a team of IT managers and manage the company’s various technology operations and the implementation of new IT systems and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the hiring, retention, mentorship and development of team leads and managers within the Information Technology Department
  • Lead a team responsible for the development of internal and external facing IT solutions, including web services, web and mobile app interfaces, and customer transaction interfaces.
  • Lead a team responsible for the provision of internal and external IT Support Services, developing the team and processes to exceed client expectations.
  • Lead a team responsible for the management, monitoring, security, performance and availability of all hosted and SaaS client systems.
  • Coordinate cross functional work among Technology Department managers and supervise developers, administrators, technicians and other professionals to provide guidance.
  • Responsibility to work closely with Finance to plan, budget, monitor and manage costs associated with IT hardware, software, development, network/telecom and hosted/SaaS solutions.
  • Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software.
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency.
  • Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management.
  • Control budget and report on expenditure.
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and promptly address any deviations to both service and availability.
  • Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network security) and evaluate them according to established goals, including responding to audits.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team and across the business to provide accurate and timely reports on IT operations and performance to target.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to stakeholders (internal and external) regarding the status of IT systems, projects, risks and staffing.
  • Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management.
  • Hold responsibility for business continuity and disaster recovery planning working closely with the COO and CFO.
  • Report on BC and DR capabilities and plans for Executive team.
  • Ensure training and communication.

What Are We Looking For?
To be considered for this impactful role, you must possess the following qualifications and experiences or be a current employee/manager with the ability to drive the team and grow within the role:

Job Requirements:
• Proven experience as IT director or similar role
• Experience in Software Development Lifecycle – analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
• Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
• Experience in controlling information technology budget.
• Excellent organizational, leadership and coaching skills
• Outstanding communication abilities (demonstrated listening, analytical, and consultative selling skills)

Education and Experience:
• BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Managerial:
• Must possess sound problem-solving abilities.
• Target-oriented and result-focused management style.
• Possess entrepreneurial qualities including the ability to motivate and mobilize a work team.
• Proven ability to manage independently.
